Who hasn't listened to the Radio 4 institution that is Desert Island discs and fantasised about appearing on it? Who hasn't listened to it and winced slightly as once again a Stephen Fry type achieves even more massive relentless overexposure?
Who hasn't clenched their buttocks in angst as you realise that your list will be way more interesting than some opera singer you have never heard who always slips in a mind numbingly boring Beatles tune or worse adds some clattering dirge from his son's indie by numbers band? Some of us spend a large percentage of their waking hours and possibly some time when asleep putting in order and then re-ordering the list of records that we would take to the sandy stretch of tropical solitude. What if the powers that be decided you could only choose one band?
Should make compiling the list of eight tunes a little easier. Well worry no more, there is only one band that even comes close to fitting the bill, and that band is The Fall. John Peel famously said what he likes about them is that they are always the same and always different, and guess what he was right. The Fall play KOKO on Tues 17th Nov 2009. Buy a ticket. You now know it makes sense.
