North Londoner Darren Foreman is better known as his musical alias, Beardyman. The musician apparently earned the nickname when for a show early on in his career, he needed a name for a flyer in a rush. He had a beard at the time and it would seem that the name caught on. As did his style of beat boxing, use of looping sounds and experimental DJ sets, which has earned him the title the ‘King of sound and beats’ according to the BBC.
On top of touring the UK, Europe and being a firm festival favourite, Beardyman has also won a string of awards and championships as well as finding the time to release his debut record 'I Done A Album' in 2011. Beardyman has grown somewhat of a cult following, with many of his video going viral and several sensationial festival performances. You can see what exactly the hype surrounding the bearded man is when he comes to KOKO in September.
