Gig info

Øya Festival, Field Day and Club NME bring you a mix featuring hotly tipped Norwegian and UK acts. New Nordic talents Lucy Swann and Team Me will join Not Squares.

Experimental trio Not Squares hail from Belfast, Northern Ireland. They have a unique approach to playing live. When starting out recording, the band tried to ‘capture’ their live performance and opted instead for experimenting with programming synth lines, routing them through guitar pedals, and having fun with the vocals. The result is a sparkling new debut album Yeah OK out now Dublin’s Richter Collective.

Oslo born Lucy Swann has distinguished herself from the rest of the pack by her expressive vocal abilities and her strong live performances.  In 2010 she released her critically acclaimed debut album “La Petite Mort” which saw her compared to the likes of Kate Bush and Beyonce. Aftenposten (top Norwegian broadsheet) extolled her to be “…one of the freshest, catchiest voices in Norwegian pop music in a very long time.” Lucy is also set to play the Brighton Great Escape Festival this year.

"Weathervanes and Chemicals, is really, really rather wonderful. Pitched somewhere in between Jonsi and Arcade Fire, it’s about as heart-warmingly lush as it gets." say NME Magazine about Team Me. If you believe bloggers and journalists all around the world, Team Me is one of the hottest newcomers of 2011. It all started out as an accidental success when Marius D. Hagen and his private, little side project Team Me ended up in the finals of NRK P3´s (Norwegian National Radio) Best new band/song contest. The band are set to play Great Escape this year.

Tickets for this event are available from the venue box office, and can be purchased at face value if payment is made in cash.
