The Oya Festival in Norway Rocks, we know because we sent someone to find out. They came back to KOKO and the result is a Club NME OYA Festival special on Friday 26th Feb 2010.

Three bands on the night headlined by the rather fine Norwegian outfit I Was A King, Fresh from releasing their second album - which saw the Oslo group collaborate with the likes of Sufjan Stevens and Daniel Smith (Danielson). Harnessing the essence of Neutral Milk Hotel, Apples in Stereo and My Bloody Valentine, I Was a King have a unique knack of creating distorted, addictive melodies with a distinct 60s sepia tinge. Goldhawks: With two acclaimed singles under their belts already and recent shows including Xfm’s Winter Wonderland, 2010 looks set to be Goldhawks’ year. Fronted by the hugely talented Bobby Cook, the London based five-piece play expansive and engrossing songs with a distinct, British flavour. Nice. MySpace

The New Wine: Bergen four-piece, The New Wine are making big waves at home and abroad with their delicious brand of groove based pop songs. With influences including Michael Jackson, LCD Soundsystem and Koji Kondo (the acclaimed Nintendo composer), The New Wine combine pop, funk and rock to a very danceable effect. Having played Øya Festival last year, The New Wine went on to tour Europe where they supported the Whitest Boy Alive amongst others. MySpace
