Professor Green’s ascent from underground hero to mainstream star reaches a new pinnacle with the July 19th release of ‘ALIVE TILL I’M DEAD’ through Virgin Records.
Following hot on the heels of his #3 hit single ‘I Need You Tonight’, a zeitgeist addressing reconstruction of the INXS hit ‘Need You Tonight’, ‘ALIVE TILL I’M DEAD’ is the focal point of an exciting summer for Professor Green. Set to soundtrack the summer festival circuit with appearances at Glastonbury (June 27th) and Wireless (July 4th), plus announcing an autumn headline tour, Professor Green will launch a second assault on the charts with the release of ‘Just Be Good To Green’ on July 12th. Featuring the inimitable vocals of Lily Allen, the track is a contemporary reworking of the Eighties hits ‘Just Be Good To Me’ (The S.O.S. Band) and ‘Dub Be Good To Me’ (Beat International).
Green launches his ‘ALIVE TILL I’M DEAD’ mission statement with the irresistible beats and effervescent rhymes of opening track ‘Kids That Love To Dance’ (features the soulful tones of Wiley/Chipmunk collaborator Emeli Sandé). Followed by the hit singles ‘I Need You Tonight’ and ‘Just Be Good To Green’, the album unravels into diverse climes and finds Green finally fulfilling his undoubted potential.
Created with imminent super-producer Labrinth, ‘Oh My God’ effortlessly blends live instrumentation with genre-defying rhythms as Green overlays with his social realist musings. Similarly unconventional is ‘Monster’, a slice of futurist pop energised by the contrasting vocal styles of Green and guest vocalist Example. Next up we have the ridiculous bassline that creates the street banger which is ‘Jungle’ (vocals by Maverick Sabre). But Green can play it reflective and emotional too, as ‘Goodnight’ proves; his impassioned autobiographical tale is set to an evocative piano line.
Other guests and producers on the album include Ed Drewett, Fink, Naughty Boy, Cores and Future Cut.
